International Forum for Hazardous Waste Management
Afaq Association for Internal Security and Customs
The waste problem has become one of the most pressing environmental issues in #Tunisia, as the annual volume of hazardous waste in Tunisia exceeds 6.5 million tons, which is disposed of in different ways amid the state’s inability to treat it, and part of it is disposed of in controlled landfills, or by randomly dumping it in the environment, or by throwing it in the sea, which has exacerbated environmental problems and doubled the threats to citizens’ lives.
Official statistics from the Court of Auditors estimate the amount of hazardous waste dumped in the environment at 142 thousand tons annually, without regard to its environmental repercussions and the costs of removing it, which are estimated at 670 million Tunisian dinars annually.
The topic of hazardous waste in #Tunisia is the topic of Cosmos – Cosmos this week on Diwan FM.
